Controlled Release Fertilisers

The Kingenta Polymer Coated Products Advantage

When conventional soluble fertilizers are applied to the soil, the plant only consumes a fraction of the nutrients. leaching, denifrification, volatilisation, and other processes cause substantial losses.

Also, most of the nutrients are released from conventional fertilisers immediately after application, leading to the risk of salt damage followed by starvation in mid-season.

Kingenta Australia’s (hereinafter refered as ‘KGA’) Control Released (CRF) fertilisers not only minimize nutrient losses, they also release nutrients at a rate that matches the plant requirements right throughout a season.

A single application of KGA products will ensure proper nutrient levels in the soil throughout the growing cycle, without risk of salt injuries.

It can be used as a nitrogen risk management tool if wet weather is anticipated soon after application and extends the nitrogen availability window to crops. Also, it can be applied in dry sowing situation where growers have to sow in dry weather during autumn. KGA’s CRF range can be blended with traditional granular fertilisers to incorporate quick and slow release.

How KGA Products Works

KGA fertilisers consist of high-quality nutrients in granular form encapsulated in a polymeric coating. As soon as the granules come into contact with moisture in the soil, they begin to absorb water vapour through microscopic pores in the coating. This gradually dissolves the nutrient content, which then diffuses slowly and continuously into the root zone of the plant.

Release controlling factors

The release rate is controlled by the soil temperature, which determines the rate of water vapour penetration and fertilizer diffusion. As the temperature rises, both the release rate and the rate of nutrient uptake by plants increase. Soil type, water content, soil pH, and microbial activity do not affect the release rate.

Product Choice

Kingenta’s controlled release products are available in a wide range of formulas with different release rates to suit crop growing cycles. Other formulas are available, not just nitrogen, but various formulations of controlled release N&P, N&K or NPK
